Maintaining a healthy lifestyle has always been a way of life for me. From childhood, being raised by a Dietician aka my mother, processed foods were off limits, staying active was a must, and colorful, farmer's market fruits and vegetables were mandatory. Although I am far from living under my parents' thumbs, I choose to continue to live that way.
It is important to me that as I grow older, I want to be healthier, stronger, more flexible, more solid, and light on my feet. Some women in my circle say that becoming a mother and/or business women prevents them from maintaining a healthier lifestyle. I say that those are the roles that should push you to want to become healthier. It is worth it.
Alongside my 2-3 times a week workout and practicing martial arts with the warrior princesses, supplements is high on my list. Being a woman that has had children, who is 34 (yay), that works purposely on her business, that caters to the needs of her husband, and that home educates her children, there is so much that my body needs. I am happy to have found most of the vitamins, minerals, and herbs that I have been looking for:

Aunt Becky's Women's Tonic (red raspberry leaf, cramp bark, black cohosh, wild yam, blessed thistle, chamomile, senna leaf, ginger, white oak bark). You might have guessed that this is some nasty stuff. Yes it is! But it is well worth it, I blend the tonic with orange juice, because it is very bitter. These ingredients are excellent for the overall toning of a woman's reproduction system and hormone balance. This tonic comes from the same line as YaMon. YaMon is a very popular herbal line but not highly publicized, it is really known to most who are into the caribbean scene. You can find these products at Jamaican/Caribbean markets (stores).
Xtra-Cal (vit C, vit D, vit E, calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese, horsetail herb, kelp, licorice, spirulina algae). My parents use to purchase
Herbalife® supplements when I was a teenager. With so many companies in the business of supplements, I kind of forgotten about
Herbalife®. I have had the pleasure of "meeting" and supporting Debra Cufaude through one of my networking groups. Debra is an
independent representative for
Herbalife®. I was very happy to read that
Xtra-Cal is a cellulose tablet and not gelatin, since I do not consume pork products. I am very excited about adding this supplement to my regimen! Good price too!
B-12 Folic Acid- This is the sublingual type, which I really like for quicker absorption.
Cod Liver Oil- I know right. Yuck! Hey, you know it really works!
So for now this is my regimen (still looking for some things). As I get older I am sure I may need more of something or less of something.
What do you do to maintain a healthier way of life?
